What a great weekend for us in finally launching our first full album Wheel and Dive. The album was successfully released on the morning of Friday 5th March and went live on our Bandcamp page, and on various streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon etc.
Friday afternoon was spent preparing our living room for the first zoom launch event and making sure the sound was working properly. At 8.00pm we began admitting the audience of family, friends and other folk to the event and kicked off proceedings with a little chat about the album, followed by 3 songs from our EP, then a little more chat, followed by our self-penned songs from the album, a bit more chat and three more songs, and our final thanks to everyone who had come to listen, concluding with a sign-off song. It was a little nerve-wracking running this event on our own, but it all worked surprisingly well and it was an absolute pleasure to have such a lovely audience join us and receive such lovely comments too..
Sunday night (7th March) was the full performance (from our living room) of the album as special guests of Blackfen Folk Clubs online club night https://www.facebook.com/BlackFenFolkClub/posts/5523941700979265 . There was some minor panic when we realised we had passed on the wrong zoom link to people (for which we apologise) but managed to contact nearly all these folk to give them the correct link with about 10 mins to spare. Our set began at about 8.15 pm with a short introduction to the album followed by a performance of each song in the order they appear on the album. It was again a real pleasure to be showcasing our music to quite an international audience, and again we received a lot of lovely comments from those folk who were watching both on the zoom and the live-stream onto the clubs Facebook page.
We would very much like to thank all of you chose to “tune-in” to these events, and to thank Blackfen Folk Club for allowing us to launch our album as their special guests. We are very much looking forward to the possibility of being able to do some live performances of the album in the near future- fingers crossed!
